Still beating a dead horse
Yes, I know, I should have dropped the Open Letter thing. And Yes, I probably shouldn’t have created my Open Letter. I definitely shouldn’t be further promoting the insanity further, with this entry.
But hey, at the end of the day, when it’s all said and done, isn’t it always about the hits?
A Response was created by the original letter writer. My eyes were immediately drawn to the statement:
I must also commend Benjamin Poole for his response to the letter. Not only did he address it in an unbiased fashion.
What? You’ve got to be kidding.
Poole’s article, bolded, in a paragraph all by itself specifically states:
[warning, the following paragraphs are in editorial style and contain strongly biased opinions that are not necessarily shared by the rest of the community]
Since when has the meaning of bias changed to: your opinion is credible, because it supports my position.
An open letter to dictionary.com
Dear Sir or Madam,
Please update your definition of bias to include the latest meaning; a credible opinion, because it agrees with one’s own position.Hugs,
NakedPaulToast
In any event, your response, your comments, have done nothing to address my, and other’s points. You and PythonPoole, have done nothing but repeating the same point over and over again.
Your closing post on the GMC is more of the same.
You still don’t understand that YYG’s has been forthcoming with information, more so than any other software developer that comes to mind. Your positions of “Give us more information”, while being critical of existing shared information is detrimental to further sharing of information. You and Poole have been unreasonable.
I absolutely have to mention the comments on my own blog, as well as the Open Letter’s blog, by ClothedSteveBread. I have no idea who you are, but anybody who would choose a username such as that is OK in my books.
I can’t help but assume the wit was lost on many readers.
B&B_Gaming’s Open Letter is also worth a mention.

Just worth mentioning that I thought it would be obvious that I meant the section of pythonpoole’s news article, before the editorial rant.

I’d like to point out that the first part of the article on my blog is not very biased and is based on factual evidence and other user’s opinions.
The second part of article does contain a warning about its strong bias, and includes my personal views.

“not very biased” does not mean “not biased”. Unless of course you want me to write another Open Letter to dictionary.com.
“based on factual evidence and other user’s opinions.”
By definition, an editorial based on opinion that supports your own is strongly biased. Stating people feel that 1 in 5 users are “blocked”, is biased, and certainly not factual.
Stating that YYGs claimed “a BETA would be available by June” , when they had said “This will almost certainly be available this month.”. Your claim was not factual, and demonstrates bias.
Your claim, “a glog post was made to indicate there was small problem with the port”, when they said “This means we are waiting for fixes from the Lazarus team and our schedule is at their mercy.” Is disingenuous and demonstrates bias.
The whole premise of the first part, indicating not enough information is shared is opinion, and by definition, biased.
