I made the following post and followup on the GMC, as a response to a query, asking what member hardcoregamer meant. hardcoregamer posts often on the GMC. Let’s put it this way, almost never will you find me, clicking his username, and choosing, Find member’s posts.
I fully expect the original post to be removed, and understand that it’s underlying ad homonym and off-topicness is unwelcome. I’m blogging it for preservation.
I understand, many don’t see the need for preservation.
OMG mark replied to my reply! I feel soo awesome! Anyhow when will the 3rd gm competition start accepting entries? Also we all know that Cavemen Craig is either 1st or 2nd. - hardcoregamer
how can one person occupy more than 2 spots? - hardcoregamer
What are you talking about? - - Revel
Allow me to explain through allegory.
I have a cat, Shorty. He’s a good cat, noble, independent, able to demonstrate affection (on his terms); he’s a cat’s cat.
I understand a lot of his communication attempts, think I understand others. But, readily admit, I might have misunderstood. But there are a lot of communication initiatives I completely don’t understand, and have learned that attempting to understand is an exercise in futility.
For example:
When Shorty is sitting by his water bowl, looking at me meowing, I know he is thirsty. After filling his bowl, I can see the knowing gleam in his eye, he seems proud to have trained the dumb human servant enough cat to at least fulfill his water request.
There are other times, where upon a happenstance greeting, he issues a throaty mewing like sound. I’m fairly certain this is a “How ya doin, NPT! Whadd’up?” I respond, “Great, Shorty!” He rarely has to repeat himself, so I’m pretty confident I understood.
Then, there are times where he wanders the house chatting. He doesn’t want to go out, he doesn’t want water, he doesn’t want scratching under his chin, and he doesn’t want to play Mario Kart Wii. I don’t know what he wants. Attempts at understanding him and trying to abide by his wishes are frustrating to me, and frustrating to him.
It’s easier on the both of us, to simply continue with our own business.
This is the approach, I now take with Hardcore.
Some of his ramblings are somewhat easy to understand, others through great effort and experience, we can probably understand him, but a lot of it is simply in a form that the average mortal, just can’t understand.
It’s amazing how the life lessons taught by a cat, can be applied to everyday life.
There was a followup:
He may have to go to the bathroom. - Digiboy
To which I responded:
So, you’re suggesting that whenever Hardcore posts his nonsense, that’s his way of saying, “I have to go to the bathroom”.
Man, he must drink a lot?

I’ve deleted about 5 of hardcoregamer’s stupid posts from the forum today, and raised his warn level… all this before reading this blog. I am of mind that he must be just trying to artificially raise his post count, so people don’t think he’s an idiot, but… what good does it do when all it takes is a quick look through the post history to find out otherwise?
